Process Improvement Manager

Area of Expertise

This position will be responsible for all aspects of shipping, receiving, packaging and preservation, inventory control, cycle counting activities, logistics, training, planning, employee performance evaluations and problem solving in a warehouse environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage daily shipping and receiving requirements
  • Review shipping/receiving performance and implement efficiency improvements
  • Complete daily safety inspections
  • Track down units with quality issues
  • Monitor yard trailer movement and radio communication
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and recommend measures to improve production
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and safety rules and regulations
  • Effectively manage hourly associates and achieve employee engagement objectives
  • Use ACE tools to improve production processes and correct deficiencies as they occur
  • Ensure EH&S; standards and administrative procedures are followed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of professional experience required

Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing or supervising in a warehousing or production environment preferred
  • Proven leadership abilities that drive results
  • Strong desire for upward mobility
  • Supervisory experience in materials workforce or shipping/receiving operations with proven leadership skills and experiences
  • Result oriented with ability to multi task and handle deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in the use of PC and software applications
  • Knowledge in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles preferred
  • Must be available to work as needed on off shifts and weekends

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to motivate, coach and lead hourly associates
  • Demonstrate sound leadership skills with a sense of urgency to obtain results
  • Ability to effectively work cross functionally with various groups including Materials, Quality, Purchasing, Engineering, Logistics Center, Finance, HR, EH&S;, etc
  • Experience in a Union environment a plus
Qualification:
  • 4+years of relevant experience (including successful implementation of continuous improvement, leading of projects, leading others, training or participating in events).
  • Good computer skills, in MS Office applications and the ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to provide continuous improvement training, influence and direct others towards goals and objectives, and experience working with lean product development.
  • Strong project management skills including demonstrated success using a phase-gate methodology.
  • Create meaningful visual controls to clearly communicate operational performance.
  • Problem solver who enjoys diving into data to get to the root cause.
  • Experience interfacing with customers and senior leaders to develop strategies that support the business unit.
  • Adaptable to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy within a diverse organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a history of influencing multiple levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills including the capability to drive improvement and challenge the status quo.
  • Interpersonal skills that include the ability to interact with suppliers, customers, distribution centers, and the Carrier organization.
  • Preferred Qualifications: ACE Associate or higher, Green Belt Certified or outside equivalent.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
